Building with Blocks

What has your child recently built?

Building blocks are more than children mindlessly stacking one block on top of the other. As the children look for the exact shape and right-sized block for their creation, they are also being introduced to the concept of sorting, big vs. small, round vs. cylindrical, and balance.

Building miniature towers from wooden blocks isn’t as simple as it seems. In fact, children exercise their concentration, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive thinking skills when they’re trying to bring their imagination to life.

The more children engage in block play, the stronger their vocabulary, math skills, and concepts of physics like gravity and balance will be in the future.

Here’s how to get started:
ACTIVITY: Block Play
AGE: 1+
MATERIALS: Wooden BlocksWork Mat
GOALS: Improve hand-eye coordinationIntroduce concepts like balance and gravity enhance cognitive thinking skills
